Alfred Tang’s work is deeply moving, evocative, romantic yet simultaneously moody. But when you looked at his old website it certainly wasn’t doing him any favors. When asked to describe his aesthetic, he said he wanted it to appear timeless. Taking that into consideration coupled with the moody aesthetic of his photography, I opted for a predominantly black background for his images, offering the perfect landscape for the depth of his images to truly shine. I kept the fonts minimal, focusing on one that had a more timeless, classic aesthetic that will withstand the test of time. As for the rest of the colors, Alfred wanted a muted gold for a touch of elegance and a deep red, a nod to his Chinese heritage and symbolic of good luck. In the end, it all came together for a timeless, elegant website that represents Alfred’s work much more beautifully than before.
